Writing Quote Wednesday: Confidence

“Waiting for ‘confidence’ before pursuing success is as absurd as waiting for your muscles to grow before you pick up a dumbbell.”

Resilience by Mark McGuinness

This is me, gaining muscle, in my warm, fuzzy robe. (I see you laughing.)

It’s the beginning of the year. My writing goals are still shiny and enticing. My writing muscles are a bit sore from my out-of-the-gate start to the new year. I think writers always struggle with confidence. When will I be a real writer? When I  get an agent? When I get a book deal? When I hit the New York Times Bestsellers’ List?

Need a kick in the pants? See this awesome article by Kristen Lamb about things that can sabotage writers.

My favorite line of the entire article is, “We are writers when we decide to write.”
